For Student Nurses
New Graduate RN and Student Nurse Information
University Medical Center (UMC), the only academic medical center in Arizona, and Arizona's first hospital to receive Magnet recognition, is always interested in talking with student nurses and hiring new graduate RNs.
UMC is the FIRST to institute the 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio during the day and 1:5 patient ratios at night on all of our adult medical/surgical/telemetry and pediatric units. Imagine giving the care you were taught to give and going home feeling good about yourself.
We have excellent new graduate internships that are held three times a year — February, July and September — and hire new graduate RNs into all areas of the hospital that have openings at the time. New graduate RNs are required to remain on the unit they are hired to for at least one year from completion of orientation.
We have a lot of interest in our New Graduate Internship program. Your area of interest may fill quickly so we recommend that you continue to apply as soon as positions are posted. We receive many applications and positions are posted for a two-week period. All applications are online and labeled "Open to New Graduate RNs" in the title. Please be sure to list the best time to contact you on the application.
Positions for the September 2010 New Graduate Orientation will be posted for application in July 2010.
New graduates are invited to shadow on the inpatient units of their choice. Please contact us at the numbers below to talk to a recruiter about shadowing and to get other information on beginning your nursing career at UMC. We are waiting to talk with you.
Please check our calendar section for career fairs that we attend in your area. We may also attend the National Student Nurse Conventions, held twice a year, in various cities around the country. You can find information at: http://www.nsna.org/.
